GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—No new charges will be filed against a Littleton truck driver for his alleged role in a crash that killed two people.
The 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office says felony charges are not warranted against 48-year-old Mark Chamness of Littleton.
Authorities say Chamness was hauling a modular trailer January 8th when he stopped on Colorado 82 to make a left turn, with the trailer blocking both westbound lanes between Carbondale and El Jebel.
A westbound Kia crashed into the trailer about 6:40 a.m. The 21-year-old driver, Elizeo Trinidad, and a front-seat passenger, 23-year-old Noemy Ramos, died.
A backseat passenger was hurt.
Chamness was cited for four misdemeanors, including careless driving causing death.
He’s due in court next month.
