COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A Colorado Springs jury will get a chance to visit the site where a 30-year-old detective was shot to death nearly two years ago.

Fourth Judicial District Judge Larry Schwartz issued that ruling Thursday in the first-degree murder trial of Jereme Lamberth.

Detective Jared Jensen was gunned down February 22nd, 2006. He was trying to arrest Lamberth on suspicion of attempted murder in the stabbing of his own sister.

Prosecutors in Lamberth’s murder trial requested the field trip Wednesday, saying jurors would benefit from being able to see first-hand what certain witnesses have described. Defense attorneys argued that the scene had changed since the shooting.

Two memorials to Jensen that are now at the scene will be covered up.
