Skies over Denver should be mostly sunny through the weekend, with daytime high temperatures in the city climbing into the mid-50s by Sunday.
Today’s high temperature in Denver will be about 44 degrees with Saturday’s high topping out at about 49, according to the National Weather Service.
And while Denver flirts with spring-like weather, snow has been blanketing the Colorado mountains.
The Pacific storm system that dumped heavy amounts of snow in southwestern Colorado, up to 2 feet in some areas, is moving to the east.
Snow showers, however, should continue today on the Western Slope and in the central and northern mountains west of the Continental Divide, bringing an additional 3 inches of accumulation to some spots.
Today Vail has an 80 percent chance for snow and the high temperature should be about 28 degrees, the weather service reports.
Snow should taper off this afternoon in the mountains as a drier air mass moves into the area. Saturday’s weather in the high country should be mostly dry.
Another weather system is waiting in the wings and southwestern Colorado stands to see another potentially significant storm taking hold early Sunday morning, the weather service forecasts.
Denver weather should remain dry until Wednesday night when there’s a slight chance for snow that should spill over into Thursday.
