A family of six has been displaced by a house fire in Broomfield, firefighters said.
The fire broke out at about 4:25 p.m. Monday at 255 Kohl St., said Wendy Forbes, a spokeswoman with North Metro Fire Rescue, in a press release.
A resident of the home called 911 about the fire and the family was able to escape flames before firefighters arrived. No one was injured.
Two family pets, a dog and cat, escaped the fire on their own, Forbes said. Firefighters did rescue three other family pets, two ferrets and a chinchilla.
Investigators have determined that the fire started in a bedroom, but the exact location and cause have not yet been determined.
The home suffered heavy fire and smoke damage on the main level, Forbes said.
Three adults and three children are displaced by the fire and are being helped by the American Red Cross, Forbes said.
