COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Transportation Security Administration workers will take over the screening of passengers at the entrance of the security checkpoint at Colorado Springs Airport beginning Thursday.
Currently private contractors working for the airlines have been checking passenger identification and boarding passes at the checkpoint.
The TSA has been taking over such duties at airports around the country.
TSA spokeswoman Carrie Harmon says the agency will add four positions to the approximately 100 screeners already in Colorado Springs to help handle the new duties.
Huntleigh USA Corp., which had been handling the duties, didn’t return messages asking whether any local employees will be laid off.
