Good morning. Please sign here.
Today is decision day for Colorado high school football players and thousands across the country who will take pen and paper in hand among cameras, banners, balloons, proud parents and sheet cakes.
Recruiting visits have been taken and stadiums have been checked out. The phone calls, e-mails, text messages and letters received should start decreasing, and so should the sleepless nights. National signing day is here.
Most of the attention today will be on football players, and six of the best in the state are profiled here: Nolan Brewster of Mullen, Curtis Cunningham of Columbine, Bryce Givens of Mullen, Tyler Jackson of Douglas County, Jon Major of Ponderosa and Andrew Sampson of Overland. But student-athletes in other sports also will make their choice of college official, one of the biggest decisions of a teenager’s life.
“It’s a dream for my mom,” said Sampson, who has chosen Arizona State. “I’m going to college for free.”
