It’s not every Valentine’s Day that you and your lover can ski first tracks, tie the knot on a mountaintop and still be back to town in time to grab dinner and a movie. So that must make Thursday a little special.
That’s the day Loveland Basin will hold its 17th annual Mountaintop Matrimony ceremony and reception for couples who either want to get hitched or already have and are interested in renewing their vows in a mass wedding at The Ptarmigan Roost Cabin, elevation 12,440 feet.
Thursday also marks the kickoff of the fourth annual Boulder International Film Festival at the Boulder Theater, where those who are audacious enough to get married on a mountain in February might also be interested in sampling a few adventure films. The Chris Sharma rock climbing profile, “King Lines,” is one of several in the outdoor genre. Others to look out for include “3 Peaks 3 Weeks,” “Row Hard, No Excuses,” “20 Seconds of Joy” and “Beckoning Silence,” the dramatic story of mountaineer Toni Kurtz.
Do it: Couples must pre-register online (www.skiloveland.com) for the noon ceremony in order to receive a two-for-one lift ticket special.
