BRECKENRIDGE, Colo.—Police have suspended the search for a New Jersey man who was last seen early Friday after leaving a bar in this ski resort town.
Alphonse “Michael” Barbiere, 23, was “highly intoxicated” when he left Cecilia’s Bar and walked away in blizzard conditions, police said.
Family members said Barbiere is a Wall Street trader.
About 60 searchers and three dogs looked for him on Sunday in a half-mile radius from the bar. Assistant Chief Greg Morrison said police suspended the search after consulting with the sheriff’s office and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
“We thought there was a 90 percent probability that additional searching within the search parameters would not find anything,” Morrison said.
Police were looking for three men who were seen speaking with Barbiere before he disappeared to learn what he may have said. Police said the three men aren’t suspected of any crime.
