ARVADA — A woman in her 70s fell through ice Tuesday at a private pond in a residential neighborhood and died, officials say.
The woman went out for a walk with her dog, and when the dog returned home without her, her husband called 911, said Susan Medina, Arvada police spokeswoman.
The dog was dry, so he had not fallen through the ice, but it is possible that the dog went out on the ice and, in an attempt to reach her pet, the woman fell through, Medina said.
