GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A 24-year-old man is being ordered to serve probation and pay restitution for causing a crash that cost another driver her hand and part of her arm.

A Grand Junction judge on Wednesday sentenced Shaun Jessup to 5 years of probation and ordered him to pay more than $300,000 in restitution.

He had pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol and causing an accident resulting in serious bodily injury in a deal with prosecutors.

Grand Junction police say Jessup was driving drunk when his vehicle struck a sport utility vehicle in August, causing the SUV to roll.

Forty-nine-year-old Tami Duran was seriously injured.

She removed her prosthetic limb in court, saying she has to live with it every day.

Jessup offered an apology.
