ASPEN, Colo.—A woman who says she needed knee surgery after another skier collided with her has filed a lawsuit against the skier.

Christine Wheeler filed the lawsuit Tuesday in Pitkin County District against Lindsay Osbon. It claims Osbon struck her from behind in February 2006 on a trail on Aspen Mountain.

The lawsuit said she was stopped on the side of a trail in plain view in clear weather when Osbon descended from uphill and overtook her. It said Osbon skied recklessly, was going too fast and was not looking out for skiers downhill from him. “(He) had the primary duty, as the uphill skier, to avoid colliding with Ms. Wheeler,” the lawsuit said.

It was not clear whether Osbon had an attorney.

Wheeler’s lawsuit seeks costs of medical treatment, transportation, loss of earnings and earning capacity, risk of future arthritis, and pain and suffering.
