ASPEN, Colo.—An Aspen tourism industry official says the upscale resort in the heart of the Rockies could be in for a bumpy ride this month.

Stay Aspen Snowmass president Bill Tomcich (TOM’-chik) says calls to the central booking agency are down 27 percent since February 1st.

He said Monday he believes the falloff is due to the slowing national economy.

Not everybody agrees. Dave Perry of Aspen Skiing Company says skier visits may be up and down over the next month, but he expects the year to end on a high note.

And Aspen Skiing Company representative Kristin Rust says the resort is logging more international visitors thanks to the weak dollar.
