A 31-year-old Loveland woman is accused of stealing more than $7,000 from a local Boy Scout troop.

Shawna Marie Parker, who served as secretary and treasurer for Boy Scout Troop 184 in Loveland, has been charged by the Larimer County District Attorney’s Office with felony theft and computer crime to commit theft, according to court records.

Parker is suspected of stealing funds raised by scouts over the last six months and “using it for personal gain,” said Sgt. Benjamin Hurr of the Loveland Police Department.

Police began an investigation last month after being contacted by members of “executive management” of the Boy Scouts of America, Hurr said.

Parker, who worked for the troop for about six months, turned herself in to police on Feb. 12 after an arrest warrant had been issued.

She is free on $5,000 bond.
