Denver—Denver Police say the mother of a baby found dead outside a hospital this week has come forward.

The baby girl was found dead after someone left her in a basket outside Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center, rang the call button and fled.

Police say the mother is cooperating in their investigation today. She has not been arrested.

Authorities did not release the woman’s identity.

Detective Sharon Hahn said Wednesday Hahn police could not speculate about whether the girl was alive when she was left at the hospital.

Colorado’s “Safe Haven” law allows a parent to safely give up a child at a hospital or fire station within 72 hours of birth.
