Skies in Denver will be mostly sunny and metro area weather should be mild through Saturday, but a chance of snow creeps back into the forecast on Sunday.

It will be mostly sunny, but winds will be gusty, in Denver today with a high temperature near 60 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds today could gust up to 30 mph across the Eastern Plains, according to the weather service.

In the mountains, high winds this morning have caused the closure of U.S. 258 near Fairplay because of blowing snow and limited visibilities, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Denver’s daily high temperature could hit 70 on Saturday, but Sunday will see a 40 percent chance of precipitation – snow mixed with rain – and a high temperature of only 42 degrees, the weather service reports.

In the mountains, Vail’s forecast calls for a 20 percent chance of snow this morning before 11 a.m., according to the weather service. Skies should be mostly cloudy in Vail today, but snow accumulations should be light as the high temperature tops out at about 35 degrees.

Friday and Saturday should be mostly sunny and pleasant in parts of the high country, with high temperatures in the 40s. An approaching Pacific storm system should carry snow back to the mountains on Saturday night and the Vail forecast calls for snow – a 60 percent chance – on Sunday.
