BOULDER, Colo.—A Boulder County goat-cheese maker has postponed the planned expansion of its dairy farm because the cost of cleaning up the new site was too steep.

Haystack Mountain Goat Dairy says it would cost about $3.5 million to get the 80-acre property ready to use.

Tim Overlie, chief executive officer of the Longmont-based dairy, says Haystack can meet the growing demand for its products with its current farm and creamery.

Overlie says the dairy will focus on improving its current operation.

Haystack Mountain owns 32 acres of the larger site and planned to lease the other 48. Overlie says the dairy will sell its share of the land.
