DENVER—Governor Bill Ritter and Attorney General John Suthers are asking state employees to be patient while officials sort out the impact of a court decision on new ethics rules.
Confusion has dogged the rules since voters approved them in 2006.
A Denver court barred the rules from taking effect but the state Supreme Court overturned the lower court. The rules are now expected to take effect again in about a week.
They ban lawmakers from accepting any gifts from lobbyists, or gifts of more than $50 from anyone else. They also ban gifts worth more than $50 to state employees or their families.
Ritter and Suthers said Friday a commission required by the amendment will soon have its fifth and final member and will start determining the specifics of the rules.
