LAHTI, Finland—Anders Gloersen of Norway and Chandra Crawford of Canada won freestyle sprint races at a World Cup cross-country event Saturday.
Gloersen beat runner-up Andy Newell of the United States by 0.4 seconds.
Emil Jonsson of Sweden, who leads the sprint World Cup, finished 23rd but still holds a 38-point lead over Ola Vigen Hattestad of Norway, who came third Saturday, with two events left.
In the overall, Lukas Bauer of the Czech Republic leads with 1,096 points. Bauer did not compete. Tor Arne Hetland of Norway, seventh in the sprint, moved to third place with 647 points, closing in on Rene Sommerfeldt of Germany, who has 688 points in second place.
Virpi Kuitunen of Finland and Astrid Jacobsen of Norway did not progress to the final.
Kuitunen has 1,101 points and Jacobsen 1,022 in the overall standings.
