Getting your player ready...
Jeff Francis does not possess the electric stuff of Ubaldo Jimenez or even Franklin Morales. He wins through intelligence and command. He used Sunday’s split-squad game against the Mexican National Team to work on his changeup, and also worked on throwing inside more to right-handers.
“I got into some trouble with my changeup, but it was fairly good overall,” said Francis, who allowed one run in three innings in the Rockies’ 2-1 loss. “I give my pitching inside a five or six out of 10. Fortunately, I didn’t get burned.”
