The 2008 Colorado Ski Mountaineering Cup (COSMIC) series continues Saturday at Loveland with a traditional-style ski mountaineering race involving multiple ascents and descents.
The recreational route consists of about 2,500 feet of climbing, and the advanced course bumps it up to roughly 4,500, all of it inside the avalanche-controlled confines of Loveland Ski Area. Randonnee and telemark skiers and even snowshoeing snowboarders are invited to test their abilities and potentially advance to the series finals.
Racing starts at 8 a.m. with advanced registration taking place Thursday between 5:30- 7 p.m. at Bent Gate Mountaineering in Golden (1313 Washington St.) and between 5:30-7 p.m. Friday at Mountain Outfitters in Breckenridge (112 South Ridge St.). On-site registration starts at 7 a.m. Saturday.
The $70 fee includes a lift ticket.
