A firefighter and a motorist were injured today when a vehicle struck a Littleton fire truck that was heading to the scene of an accident.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital with unspecified injuries, said Littleton Fire Department Division Chief Jay Ruoff. Neither victim was identified.

The fire engine was headed west through the intersection at University Boulevard and Cresthill Lane with sirens blaring and lights flashing when it was struck by a southbound vehicle, Ruoff said.

“One of the firefighters who rides in the back was hurt,” he said

No one was injured in the accident that the fire truck was headed toward.
