Expulsion proceedings were initiated against a middle-school student in Loveland who sold allegedly marijuana to at least six other students, officials say.
The six students who admitted buying drugs from their classmate at Walt Clark Middle School were suspended, said said Wes Fothergill, spokesman for the Thompson School District.
“We take this very seriously,” Fothergill said. “The district is working hard to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
An investigation began Thursday after one student told a staff member about the drug sales.
The accused boy denied the allegation and did not attend school the next day, when other students also said they bought marijuana from this same classmate, Fothergill said.
The investigation was completed Monday, and action was taken, he said.
“We do not have this sort of thing happening in our middle schools,” Fothergill said. “It is very rare.”
In a separate incident, four students from the same school were suspended for alcohol abuse, Fothergill said.
