DENVER—College and university tuition increases of up to 9 percent have been approved by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education.
The recommendations by the panel now go to the Legislature’s Joint Budget Committee, which would include the increases as part of the state’s spending bill.
In-state undergraduate tuition could go up 9 percent at the University of Colorado, Colorado State University, the University of Northern Colorado and the Colorado School of Mines. Other four-year universities such as Metropolitan State College of Denver can raise tuition by up to 7 percent, while community colleges are capped at 5 percent. Each school would approve the actual increase.
