FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Dori Gills scored 23 points and Jessica Giltner added 15 to lead Holy Family to a 60-54 victory over Roosevelt in the semifinals of the girls 3A state basketball tournament Friday night.
Gills hit 7-of-13 shots and was 9-for-12 from the free throw line for Holy Family (24-2).
Sendy Valles led Roosevelt (24-2) with 22 points. Alex Morford chipped in 15 points for Roosevelt which had its 22-game winning streak snapped.
Holy Family led 30-19 at the half, but used six layups and cashed in on five turnovers to lead 16-12 after one quarter. Roosevelt turned the ball over four more times in the second quarter and fell behind 29-17 on Giltner’s 3-pointer with 4:05 left in the quarter.
Gills hit a short jumper to put Holy Family ahead 38-24 early in the second half, but Deprece Washington’s rebound basket capped an 8-0 run for Roosevelt and the lead was 40-32 after three quarters. Holy Family regrouped in the fourth quarter and a basket by Gills made it a 56-44 game.
Roosevelt closed the game with a 10-4 run.
Holy Family advanced to play the winner of the Colorado Springs Christian-Faith Christian game for the state championship on Saturday.
