COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Two Elbert County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers are being identified as the victims killed in a five-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 24.
The Colorado State Patrol says 45-year-old Todd Sielaff and 56-year-old Richard “Joe” Rockwell — both of Simla — died at the scene Sunday, four miles west of Calhan.
They were on their way home from work in separate cars when a semi hit them both.
Authorities say 38-year-old Donald Massman of Colorado Springs was driving a pickup that clipped the semi, causing it to veer into another lane — where it hit Sielaff’s Ford Mustang and Rockwell’s Ford Tempo.
The semi also hit a truck driven by 48-year-old Terry Jaques of Limon, but he wasn’t hurt.
Massman was arrested on suspicion of careless driving causing death.
