AURORA, Colo.—One woman is dead after an early-morning apartment fire in Aurora.
Firefighters responded to the Buckingham Gardens complex at about 2 a.m. Friday and extinguished the flames.
The 54-year-old woman was later discovered dead in her bed.
The fire destroyed her ground-floor apartment. Residents of five other units were forced from their apartments and used a clubhouse for temporary shelter.
No other injuries were reported.
Buckingham Gardens is owned by the Aurora Housing Authority, and has more than 120 units.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is estimated at about $50,000.
The name of the deceased woman has not been released.
