So how’s your NCAA men’s basketball tournament bracket this morning? If you took our annual advice and went with the chalk — Vegas chatter for the favorites — you’re still alive and well and howling around the water cooler. If you tried to get too cute and impress the cocky clowns in accounting, you’ve probably perforated it and put it on a roll.
Ten of the top 12 seeds moved to this week’s Sweet 16. All four top seeds are alive, although if Memphis doesn’t get some foul-shooting tips, it may not be in much longer. Still, all four regionals are packed with intrigue, fascinating matchups and potential gargantuan battles.
You have North Carolina looking as good as a top seed should and Kansas looking even better. You have Bob Huggins turning West Virginia into a national power before our eyes and a Louisville team that is sneaking up on the entire field.
All you sentimentalists who fight for the poor, help stranded kittens and root for the underdog, you have your Cinderella in tiny Davidson. And unless you were one of the 1,000 or so people who attended University of Denver games, you don’t know that one of the remaining played our li’l ol’ Pioneers.
By the way, Western Kentucky beat Denver at home on Feb. 2, 78-64.
