AURORA, Colo.—An Aurora woman found dead in her burned out apartment Friday died of complications from smoke inhalation.

The Arapahoe County coroner’s office says 54-year-old Lula Shelton was the resident killed when a fire broke out at the Buckingham Gardens complex.

The 120-unit complex is managed by the Aurora Housing Authority.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at about 2 a.m. Friday and found Shelton while they were battling the blaze. No one else was hurt.

Damage is estimated at about $50,000.

Aurora Fire Department spokesman Capt. Mark Turley says the fire’s cause and origin are under investigation.
