A man shot to death following a brief discussion with his killer last night has been identified as 29-year-old Jorge Valdez.
Police believe the suspect who fatally shot Valdez was an acquaintance of some type, said Sonny Jackson, Denver police spokesman.
The suspect drove up beside Valdez near Ninth Avenue and Winona Court at 8 p.m. last night, exchanged words with him and then shot him, Jackson said.
“It appears there was some type of relationship between the two men,” Jackson said. “It doesn’t appear to be random.”
When police arrived, they found Valdez with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to Denver Health Medical Center, where he died, said Detective John White.
Detectives are looking for a white, four-door pickup, or similar vehicle, with tinted windows that may be connected to the shooting.
“We’re hoping to get more details from the public,” Jackson said.
