Officials have ticketed the driver of a car that rammed an Aurora Police SUV on its way to call.
Richard Lee Williams, 73, of Englewood was cited for failing to yield the right-of-way to an emergency vehicle, Aurora police said today.
Saturday about 5 p.m. Sgt. Walt Obrecht was driving a marked 2007 Ford Expedition police car to the scene of reported fight, police said. He was driving with lights and siren on going eastbound on east Colfax Avenue approaching a left turn onto Tower Road.
Other cars stopped for the police SUV, but a 2008 Toyota Prius driven by Williams did not, and hit the SUV broadside, police said in a new release.
Obrecht was taken to a hospital and later released with minor neck pain.
Williams was not injured. His wife, who was his passenger, had minor injuries.
