The Colorado Mammoth on Tuesday bolstered its offensive power play by re-acquiring veteran Chris Gill from the Edmonton Rush hours before the trade deadline, Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said.
Gill, a 12-year National Lacrosse League veteran, was a standout with the Mammoth in 2006 when he tallied 29 goals, including a team-high 17 on the power play, and 45 points as the team won the NLL title.
“I’m really excited about returning to Colorado and to the Mammoth organization,” Gill said. “It will be nice playing for a championship contender and to be playing alongside former teammates.”
The Mammoth sent a first-round pick in the 2008 draft to Edmonton in exchange for Gill and a second-round selection.
Gill has 12 goals and 17 points in eight games this season. He ranked eighth on the NLL’s all-time scoring list heading into this season with 302 goals.
“We’re very excited to reacquire Chris. He is a great athlete and plays the game with passion and desire,” Govett said. “He’s been followed by success wherever he goes, and has been a great player in this league for many years.”
The Mammoth also said that forward Matt Brown, who doubles as an assistant coach at the University of Denver, was moved to the inactive roster.
