DENVER—The Senate has given final approval to a bill limiting neighborhood protests.

The measure (Senate Bill 192) would stop protesters from camping out in front of a house and their signs couldn’t be any larger than 6 square feet.

Opponents have said the bill violates free speech and that neighbors can already call the police to complain about protesters. However, residents who live in Denver area neighborhoods targeted by anti-abortion activists told lawmakers that police aren’t sure how to respond to them.

The American Civil Liberties Union hasn’t taken a position on the bill.

The Senate voted 26-9 in favor of the bill. It now heads to the House.
