Architecture buffs

Colorado Architecture Week is April 11-17. The Colorado chapter of the American Institute of Architects hosts a series of events and activities that week for the whole family, including an awards ceremony, a children’s event dubbed Denver Box City that underscores the importance of historic preservation and urban design, and Doors Open Denver, which includes expert and self-guided tours of the city’s significant architectural gems and lesser-known treasures. See the complete schedule and make reservations for any event at or call 303-446-2266.

Highbrow boards

Drop by the Design Within Reach Denver studio from 6 to 9 p.m. today (2500 E. Second Ave., Suite 120, 720-407-0001) to view submissions in the second annual Design the Modern Board competition, sponsored by K2 Snowboards and co-hosted by SOS Outreach. The contest challenges aspiring and professional graphic designers to conceive an original snowboard image — like this one, the 2007 winner titled “Anger Monster,” by Anthony Yenason. Tonight’s event is open to the public; a suggested cash donation of $10 at the door will benefit SOS Outreach, a Colorado nonprofit that aims to build character in youths with snow sports.
