Jared Polis has pumped another $204,000 into his campaign, which may put him among the top self-funded congressional candidates.
Polis has about $666,500 through self-contributions and his single- member LLC, which is not subject to certain corporate or partnership campaign finance limits.
That puts Polis into the fourth spot of self-funded U.S. House candidates, according to data from compiled through March 25.
“Jared is not taking money from specials interests, like oil and gas, like some of his opponents,” said Dayna Hanson, a spokeswoman for Polis.
The race between Polis, former state Senate President Joan Fitz-Gerald and conservationist Will Shafroth already ranks as among the most expensive in the country.
Fitz-Gerald campaign manager Mary Alice Mandarich challenged Polis’ stance on special-interest money.
“The biggest special interest in this race is Jared Polis,” she said “He’s given more money than another interest has in this race. Some people will never see that kind of money in their entire lifetime.”
