All-star forward Carmelo Anthony is suffering from an injury to his right shoulder, which kept him out of practice Thursday but should not keep him out of Saturday’s game.

“(The shoulder) is not good — it’s sore, very tender today,” Nuggets coach George Karl said Thursday. “I don’t know how much he’ll do Friday. The whole thing is just to calm it down, get it to where it’s not irritating.”

Allen Iverson, who has a fractured right ring finger, missed Thursday for personal reasons, and Nene took the day off as well. Iverson and Nene are expected to play Saturday.

Dunlap courted.

Nuggets assistant coach Mike Dunlap has been in contact with University of California officials about their coaching vacancy, though Dunlap’s name is one of many floating around for the coveted job.

“I think any time you have a college talent like Mike, we knew there would be circumstances,” said Karl of the former Metro State coach. “Mike’s great. He’s upfront with us.”

If Dunlap is hired by Cal, and the Nuggets are still playing in the regular season or postseason, Karl said the plan is “to have him to stay as part of the team. I think we can work it out no matter what happens, make it a win-win for everybody. . . . He’s got insight. He’s got a good feel. Does he have to be here everyday? No.”

Karl added: “I’m sure he could coach in the NBA for the next 10 years somewhere.”
