GREELEY, Colo.—A man whom Morgan County authorities called a person of interest in a 1993 Valentine’s Day murder has been arrested in Greeley.
Police arrested James “Sam” England, 37, on Friday for investigation of car theft. England is also wanted on felony and misdemeanor warrants from Morgan and Alamosa counties including the theft of two shotguns, Morgan County Sheriff Jim Crone.
He had been sought in connection to the shooting death of William “Billy” Trimbach, whose body was found in Morgan County in 1993. Crone said one theory in Trimbach’s death is that his wife, Cindy, hired two men to kill her husband to cash in on a large life-insurance policy. She has since died.
Morgan County sheriff’s officials said authorities had encountered England in March after he was involved in a hit-and-run crash, but he got away after giving a false name.
Authorities said England had been living in Greeley under an alias. His criminal record includes sentences in Colorado for drug dealing and violating parole, plus several arrests on other charges, Crone said.
