GRAND JUNCTION—A former Grand Junction elementary schoolteacher is on trial this week for allegedly lying to her attorney, a judge and her probation officer.

Tammie Lee Reed faces a felony charge of attempting to influence a public official. She’s also accused of four counts of violating bail-bond conditions.

Reed’s daughter, 17-year-old Casey Carroll of Reno, Nev., testified Monday that she first read in a newspaper article that her mother planned to travel to Nevada to attend her wedding.

The trouble: Carroll had no plans to get married.

Reed was sentenced last June to four years probation and 21 months of work release for methamphetamine possession.

Judge Thomas Deister testified Monday that he made an exception in Reed’s case because of the supposed wedding.
