Emergency workers spent four hours today searching a Nederland neighborhood after a woman reported she had heard a man crying for help. They found nothing.

The woman called the department this morning saying she heard a man’s voice calling for help but couldn’t find him. She believed the man was “stuck” somewhere nearby, said Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Cmdr. Phil West.

“The disembodied voice turned out to be nothing,” West said. He could not immediately identify the woman.

About two dozen searchers scoured the area around the woman’s house, going door-to-door and using all-terrain vehicles and dogs during the four-hour search around Cougar Run.

Rocky Mountain Rescue, Nederland Fire and Pridemark Ambulance were all involved.

“If there was somebody stuck, they may have gotten themselves unstuck,” West said.
