MIAMI—The Department of Defense says a South Florida soldier has died in Iraq after his vehicle encountered an explosive device.

Officials said Wednesday that Maj. Mark E. Rosenberg, 32, of Miami Lakes, died April 8 in Baghdad.

He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 29th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.

Messages left at telephone listings for Mark Rosenberg were not immediately returned Wednesday night.
