SILVERTHORNE, Colo.—Snow and icy roads led to several minor accidents on the steep approach to Eisenhower Tunnel beneath the Continental Divide on Interstate 70, forcing the closure of the eastbound lanes of the state’s main east-west highway for several hours.

Colorado State Trooper Gilbert Mares said they closed the interstate after up to 20 vehicles were involved in separate accidents. Most had slid off the road.

No major injuries were reported.

The lanes reopened shortly after 11 p.m., 4 1/2 hours after it was closed.
