Getting your player ready...

Last week, Air Academy’s Ron Burton Jr. secured a baseball opportunity most seniors would slide headfirst into first base for — he signed with University of the Pacific of the Big West Conference. The Tigers are coached by Ed Sprague, a Stockton, Calif., native who played 11 years in the majors, helped Toronto to back-to-back World Series titles and became an all-star with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Burton, whose father is an assistant with Air Force Academy football, is a 5-foot-9 center fielder with tools, including pop with six home runs and 36 runs batted in for the Class 5A No. 3 Kadets.
