This week’s topsy-turvy weather isn’t done twisting yet, as Wednesday’s snow will give way to spring again by Friday and summertime temperatures by the weekend, according to weather forecasters.

The quick switches between hot and cold, dry and wet, and calm and windy-as-all-get-out is just springtime in Colorado, experts say.

“I wish I could tell you anything weird about it,” National Weather Service forecaster Bob Koopmeiners said of this week’s weather. “But if you live here long enough, you see this thing all the time.”

Next up: lightning and tornado season on the Eastern Plains.

“It’s that time of year,” Koopmeiners said. “You’ve got the clashes of the season and more sunlight that puts a lot energy into the atmosphere.”

Up to 5 inches of snow was expected in parts of the metro region overnight Wednesday as a moisture-laden Pacific front made its way across the state. By midday today, snow will move out and temperatures will rise, reaching the 60s by Friday and the 70s by the weekend.
