FLORENCE, Colo.—The U.S. Penitentiary in Florence is still in lockdown after a riot that left two inmates dead and sent five other inmates to hospitals.

Prison officials say three of the five inmates who went to hospitals were back at the prison Tuesday.

Prison officials have said guards shot and killed two inmates Sunday after up to 200 inmates battled with homemade weapons in a fight that broke out in the recreation yard.

U.S. Attorney Troy Eid has said white supremacist inmates were suspected of targeting minorities on Adolf Hitler’s birthday.

No staff members were hurt.

The FBI and Bureau of Prisons are investigating. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says it’s too early to say whether anyone could be charged.
