Troy Tulowitzki’s numbers don’t show it, but the Rockies shortstop says he’s close to breaking out of his season-long slump. “I just have to keep going out there and swinging, even though I’m not getting any results so far,” Tulowitzki said. “I feel like I’m hitting balls hard, just right at guys sometimes. Hopefully it changes sooner or later.” He went 0-for-5 at Dodger Stadium on Sunday and saw his average fall to .157. He had a chance to break the game open in the eighth inning, but he grounded into a double play.
Overtime blues.
Extra-inning games have not been kind to the Rockies. They have five in just 25 games, posting a 1-4 record. On the West Coast this season, they have played in extra innings three times in six games, including the 22-inning marathon in San Diego.
Corpas update:
Manuel Corpas got the Rockies through the ninth inning Sunday, but was charged with the loss when he walked three (one intentionally) in the 10th to set up James Loney’s winning single. Corpas has a 6.91 ERA in 13 games this season.
