The driver who struck a power pole in Hudson and caused a power outage may have been drinking, according to the Weld County Sheriff’s office.

The single-car accident at 9:10 p.m. Saturday happened when the vehicle drove off the south side of Colorado 52, cleared a 10-foot-wide ditch and struck the pole.

The only occupant was a male, possibly in his 20s, who hasn’t been identified. He was unconscious and airlifted to Colorado Medical Center.

United Power was working late Saturday to get power back to homes and businesses in the area. No further information was available Sunday.
