BOULDER, Colo.—People in the University Hill neighborhood of Boulder are a little on-edge these days, thanks to a “persistent” mountain lion.

Boulder police were notified Monday that a man had seen the cat eating a raccoon in his yard.

Officers with the Colorado Division of Wildlife were busy with another call when the report came in, and asked Boulder police to fire bean bags to chase the animal away.

The cat ran after the third bean bag hit, but the mountain lion returned about three hours later.

Boulder police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley says officers took the raccoon carcass away to discourage the mountain lion from returning, but neighbors called police about 6 a.m. Tuesday to report the cat was back.

The Division of Wildlife has been notified.
