A man who had made threats against a former employer had pipe bombs in his home, Longmont officials after a raid tonight.

A friend of Steven Wilson’s called police to tell them about seeing the explosives at the home, and a raid at the home at 228 St. Clair Ave. in Longmont turned up seven pipe bombs, police said.

Wilson, 44, had worked at HEI Advanced Medical Operations in Boulder until March, police said. HEI develops and manufactures high-performance electronic components, medical and industrial products and software, according to its website.

The Longmont Fire Department, the Boulder County Bomb Squad and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives assisted in the search and helped remove six pipe bombs made of PVC piping and one metal pipe.

Wilson was booked into the Boulder County Detention Center on seven counts of possession of explosives.
