FORT COLLINS, Colo.—An Iowa man has been returned to Fort Collins to face murder and robbery charges in the 1998 beating death of a homeless man.

Frank Webb was brought to Fort Collins on Monday.

The 56-year-old is accused in the death of Gary Martin Birks. Webb was arrested April 21 at his home in Muscatine, Iowa.

David Lee Griffin also faces a murder charge in Birks’ death. An arrest warrant has been issued for the 46-year-old Griffin, who is serving time in a Pennsylvania state prison on an auto theft conviction.

Police say Webb and Griffin became suspects after the investigation was reopened in 2006.
