A luxury vacation home in Breckenridge suffered significant damage after fire broke out this afternoon.
The home was vacant at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown, said Capt. Kim Scott of Red White and Blue Fire and Rescue in Breckenridge.
“We did find a broken gas line on the scene but whether that happened before the fire or during, we just can’t confirm at this time,” Scott said. “It does not appear to be criminal or intentional at this point but we won’t know for sure until after the investigation.”
Direct fire damage was confined to the basement of the home, with heavy smoke damage throughout the rest of the structure, Scott said.
Estimated costs of the damage are unknown at this point, Scott said. The property is valued at $1.35 million, according to the Summit County Assessor’s Office. It had been vacant since April 12.
No other structures were in significant danger from the blaze, Scott said.
