GOLDEN — Jefferson County has joined Arvada and Broomfield in forming the Jefferson Parkway Public Highway Authority to complete the “missing link” of the metro beltway.
On Tuesday, county commissioners unanimously approved the highway authority contract. Jefferson County, Broomfield and Arvada have agreed to contribute $100,000 each in startup funds.
The authority will explore the feasibility, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of a 20-mile section from the Northwest Parkway north of U.S. 36 to Colorado 93 north of Golden.
Colorado 93 through Golden would be a four-lane parkway without a toll that would link with U.S. 6 and C-470.
